When peace like a river…

News from Caringbridge

At 10:45am, Pat left her earthly body and went to be with her heavenly Savior. She was surrounded by her husband, Gordon, sister, Lana, and children Kendra & Barrett. We rejoice that she passed peacefully and is now at rest with Jesus.

A memorial service is tenatively scheduled for next Thursday evening at 7pm at Immanuel Bible Church (there will not be a funeral or viewing). We will update with more details when things are finalized.

Thank you all for your love and prayers.

Video: Sleep eating

This happened a couple days ago. Some of my aunts and uncles came from out of town to visit. They came during Eliana’s naptime so she was pretty tired. My relatives wanted to wake her up and play… she continued to pretend she was sleeping, so we tried different things to draw her out of her slumber… chex, jello, etc…

It was finally my aunt who did it by pretending to take Edith…

Haven’t been political as of late

Here are two quotes.  One from Francis Schaeffer and the other Tim Keller.  I haven’t been reading much on justice or politics as I used to, but I was reminded of it as I was re-reading my old blog… The Lost Years.

My First Ebay Purchase

I’ve been pushing this off for a while. A friend of mine suggested I purchase a set of power tools off Ebay but I thought it wasn’t worth the hassle. Well, one thing led to another and because I wanted to start a garden in my backyard and had some different things to do around the house… I was in need of some tools. I did some research and decided I wanted cordless tools and I didn’t want to pay full price for them. I ended up going back to Ebay and seeing the Ryobi One+ tools for sale. Regular price was like $300 something and I got it for $169 plus free shipping. Hopefully I won’t get ripped off and the batteries will still be working.

Why I will not see the new Star Trek movie… (and why I ultimately will)

This is my rant (Note this is a long post and mostly my ranting)
I have mixed feelings with the upcoming release of the Star Trek movie… mainly because in some ways I am not ready to contextualize Kirk, Spock, McCoy into big budget fire fights, and battle scenes and teen agnst.

As a long-time Trek fan… having watched all of TOS, TAS, TNG, DS9, and now VOY… (yes, in anticipation, I just watched season seven of Voyager this past week). Though I have yet to finish Enterprise due to a certain bible study that was held on Friday nights and a certain girl whom I later married and then other excuses.

90 Day Bible Reading Plan

I know this is another marketing ploy to get churches and christians to spend money on a new bible, but it does have its merit in that it encourages people to read the Word of God.

After listening to Bryan Chappell’s talk in the Gospel Coalition on , I decided that it would be good to re-read the bible again.

Like a marathon runner wanting to improve his personal best through running and strength training… we can’t hear God or even know God unless we hear the preaching and reading of his Word. So if anyone is interested in joining us, we will begin June 1 and read through August 31… That comes out to be about 12 pages a day depending on your bible or about 30 minutes a day.

You can follow on this RSS Feed or follow this 90 day bible bookmark Schedule.
