My First Ebay Purchase

I’ve been pushing this off for a while. A friend of mine suggested I purchase a set of power tools off Ebay but I thought it wasn’t worth the hassle. Well, one thing led to another and because I wanted to start a garden in my backyard and had some different things to do around the house… I was in need of some tools. I did some research and decided I wanted cordless tools and I didn’t want to pay full price for them. I ended up going back to Ebay and seeing the Ryobi One+ tools for sale. Regular price was like $300 something and I got it for $169 plus free shipping. Hopefully I won’t get ripped off and the batteries will still be working.

We’ll see how this purchase goes. The reason I’ve been hesitant in buying from Ebay is that I really don’t know what quality the merchandise will be when I receive it and the return policy is a hassle. If I buy from the store, I have the option of returning it the next day and getting my money back pretty promptly. But I have to go through PayPal and talking with the seller and mailing it back through the post office. The process is just enough to hinder me from going through with it.

I’ve also noticed similar roadblocks in my life that if I don’t address immediately, I’ll wait.. and wait.. and wait… before I actually do them. I’ve let even smaller excuses hinder me from doing what I need to do. This is not a good habit.

I’ve known many people in my life that when asked to do something, they do it right away, with joy and with excellence. That is an example I want to follow and an example I want my kids to follow. The bible exhorts Christians to do everything “with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men” (colossians 3:23) and “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might…” (ecclesiastes 9:10)

So whether it be an ebay purchase or some responsibility around the house or something at work or a promise you made… do it with the might of Christ. And whatever excuses you come up with will be weak in comparison to “He who is in you” (1 John 4:4).

P.S. Four easy steps to start buying on Ebay:
1. create a user account
2. create a paypal account
3. link paypal to your credit card or bank account
4. begin buying responsibly.
