Infrequent Bowel Movements

Q: Is it normal for a two month old to have infrequent bowel movements?
A: Yes.

According to “What to Expect”… it is perfectly normal for a breastfeeding baby to not have daily bowel movements. It is even normal for a baby to have them every other day or even once a week. I looked up all these different sources on the internet and found that many other parents had the same issue with their children. So we were some what reassured. It had been about six days since Edith had her last one. Mommy even set up an appointment at Kaiser tomorrow if nothing happened… The only warning they gave was that it was going to be explosive…

They weren’t kidding. After holding up at the “train station” for six days, the train left the station this evening. There was just too much to handle in the size 2 diaper that Edith was wearing. Needless to say, she got a bath right after the incident.

The brown ring around her belly is not part of her shirt nor is it a towel or some special effects of the photo… That, my friends, was the overflow from the diaper. The pants were fine… it was just everything above the waist that wasn’t protected… her stool just overflowed out of the diaper and onto the shirt… it ended up being a two person job to remove her clothes and to wash her down.

Update: Month#2 of 2 kids

Well, just to update everyone, we have passed month 2. Baby Edith is doing great, surpassed the 10lb mark and growing fast. She’s sleeping well with the occasional night time cries. Mommy and baby are doing fine. Feeding schedule has pretty much been stable and we are learning all her idiosynchracies like sucking on hand when hungry, making funny noises, and saving up her bowel movements for every 2-3 days… yeah, it all comes out at once… not a fun job to clean.

Eliana turned 2 last month, doing great with potty training, although last Sunday we had a pretty big accident. We didn’t do much research on potty training, but it’s been mostly removing the diaper during the day and praying that she’ll let us know that she has to go. It’s been working out probably 90% well. With every nine times she tells us there’s also a slight accident waiting to happen.

She’s also learning a lot of words. Which means she also knows how to fib and tell us jokes. She’s been watching Shrek lately. She calls me Shrek, mommy is donkey, and she’s princess. Oh well, too bad for mommy.

Anyways, 2 kids in 4 years… this was us on Easter Sunday celebrating our 4 year anniversary at Caribou Coffee…

White House Easter Egg Roll 2009

Just got back from the Easter Egg thing at the White House. Didn’t plan on going, but my cousin had connections through work and got us tickets. My aunt accompanied with momma and the two E’s.

I parked off of 14th and Rhode Island. I hung out at a Caribou Coffee with free WI-FI where I was able to do work while the children rolled eggs. Note: $1 coffee at Caribou on mondays…

There were no signs of Obama during our time period, but momma said he was nearby. Approximately 30,000 people were expected to show up. The people were split up into different two hour time slots. We had the 8AM-10AM time slot.

Pictures to be posted soon.

Here is some white house stuff we got:

Happy Easter!

Update: Obama came out around 11 AM… about an hour after we left. Oh well, can’t have everything in life.

Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus fun

Eliana’s uncle had tickets for us to see the Ringling brothers at the Patriot center. The “greatest show on earth” was well enjoyed by my eldest daughter. She liked the horses and dogs.
